0 miles - Exeter quay

1 mile - Trews weir

Shoot down the fish run or portage left at high water flow.

2 miles - Salmon pools weir

Shoot down the face or use the fish run.  

3 miles - Countess Wear bridge (A 379) bridge

4 miles - M5 bridge

4.8 miles - Topsham left

Ferry.  Land at the ferry slipway right for an easy portage to the canal.  

From now on the deep water channel is marked by buoys

5.5 miles - The river Clyst joins left.

6 miles - Turf's

Canal entrance right.

Land on the quay and portage Turf's lock to reach the canal.  You can camp here.  

7 miles wooden footbridge

8 miles M5 bridge

9 miles - Countess Wear canal bridge (A 379) 

10 miles - Double locks

10.5 miles - Salmon pool bridge

11 miles- rejoin river

12 miles - Exeter quay
